Abstract

The millennial generation is a group that grew up in the digital and globalization era, where English language skills are one of the main keys to compete in the world of work, education, and global communication. However, the main challenge in learning English for this generation is the gap between conventional teaching approaches and the unique characteristics of millennials who tend to be visual, digital-native, and require an interactive and relevant approach to their lives. Therefore, research is needed to identify effective and adaptive English learning strategies for the characteristics of the millennial generation. The purpose of this study is to explore effective English learning approaches for the millennial generation, by reviewing various literature related to teaching strategies, learning technologies, and the psychology of learning for the younger generation. This study aims to provide an overview and recommendations based on literature reviews that can be implemented in educational practices. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature review approach. Data were obtained through literature studies from scientific journals, books, and relevant research reports on English learning strategies, characteristics of the millennial generation, and educational technology. The analysis was carried out thematically to identify effective learning patterns and principles. The results of the study show that digital technology-based learning methods, such as the use of mobile learning applications, interactive videos, and project-based learning, are preferred by the millennial generation. In addition, contextual and collaborative learning have been shown to increase student motivation and learning retention. Effective English learning for millennials needs to integrate digital technology, personalized approaches, and real-life contexts. Teachers need to adapt to flexible and communicative approaches to make learning relevant and engaging for the dynamic millennial generation.
